“Angel, National Symbol”
The statue colloquially known as the "angel" is actually a Winged Victory statue, but almost all Mexicans are unaware of this fact, as well as the fact that this is the top of the mausoleum of the heroes of independence.

The Temple of Kukulcán takes its name from the deity of the same name, which means "feathered serpent." Positioned with absolute astronomical precision, the temple projects the shadow of the great god two days a year: on the spring equinox and the winter solstice.
